Each semester’s tuition is due and payable before lessons begin. First semester fees are due by September 6th, 2011.
Admission & Registration
In an effort to provide a comprehensive music education, students enrolled in private study are eligible to participate in a variety of supplemental classes – depending on their instrument – at no extra cost.
Registration must be a minimum of one eighteen-week semester and is normally for a full academic year consisting of two eighteen-week semesters. For ballet students, the year is divided into three twelve-week semesters.
Students will automatically be billed for the ensuing semester unless the office and the private instructor are notified of the student’s intention to withdraw.
Some semesters encompass more than eighteen weeks allowing for flexibility in scheduling, however, each student will receive only eighteen lessons per semester.
Attendance
Regular and punctual attendance at lessons is essential. Courtesy requires the student to notify the instructor if they are unable to attend.
Unavoidable absence because of illness, and lessons cancelled by the instructor, will be rescheduled. It is the responsibility of the student to be available for rescheduled lessons during the instructor’s regular teaching schedule. Only in exceptional circumstances will a refund be granted. Application for a refund must be approved by the Music Director.
Bursaries
Students in good standing who can demonstrate a need for financial assistance and have been registered students at VAM for a minimum period of six months may apply for a bursary. Students must file an Application Form and have their instructor complete an evaluation form.
The Scholarship and Bursary Committee meet twice a year to review all requests. Applications must be submitted before September 30 for first semester and January 31 for second semester. For Application Forms and further information, please inquire at the VAM office.
