Alexander Cannon, Trumpet

Al Cannon

Trumpeter Al Cannon is a freelance musician and brass educator based in Vancouver, BC.  Al has performed across North America and in Ireland, Thailand, Taiwan, and China. He has been selected to attend numerous outstanding summer music programmes including the Lake Placid Institute in Lake Placid New York, the Pierre Monteux School in Hancock, Maine, and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.  From 2007-2009, Al was the Acting Principal Trumpet with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra.  He is currently an extra trumpet at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and performs with local indie artists including Dan Mangan and the Salteens.

Current chamber ensemble projects include Cascades Brass (2006 first prize winner at the internationally renowned Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition in Pasadena, CA) and the Vancouver Brass Project, for which he also serves as a primary administrator.  He performs new music with the Redshift Music Society and with the brass trio Three Body Problem.

Alexander will soon graduate from the University of British Columbia, where he was a twice a recipient of the university’s highly competitive University Graduate Fellowship, with a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in trumpet performance.  He maintains an active schedule as a freelance performer, private instructor, clinician, and brass arranger.  Please visit his website at www.alexandercannon.com.

Mark D’Angelo, Trumpet

Mark D'Angelo

Mr. D’Angelo has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, CBC Radio Orchestra, Thunder Bay Symphony, American Brass Quintet, Aspen Festival Orchestra, Canada West Chamber Orchestra, and is currently second trumpet with the Vancouver Island Symphony.

Mr. D’Angelo is sessional trumpet instructor at Capilano University. Mark holds a Master of Music Degree from McGill University.
