Lessons are offered Monday through Sunday. Lesson times are to be arranged with the teacher.
A weekly two-hour class in Voice will be taught by David Meek. Mr. Meek has held teaching positions at the University of British Columbia and was appointed Head of the Voice Department at VAM in 2001-2002. As Head of the Opera Studio, he has been Artistic Director/Conductor of the Academy’s Summer Opera Production of Street Scene, Tales of Hoffman, The Magic Flute, Die Fledermaus, Albert Herring, Don Giovanni, Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi, Così Fan Tutte and The Bartered Bride. As a professional singer, he has performed leading and supporting roles with the Vancouver Opera, Manitoba Opera, Calgary Opera, Edmonton Opera and the Banff Summer Program. Many of David’s students are now pursuing professional careers after winning major competitions, which include winners of the Metropolitan Auditions in New York.
Students enrolled in the voice private instruction program may also attend the voice master class.
VAM students registered for Individual Instruction are eligible to enroll in the following supplementary classes at no extra cost:
