Under the direction of distinguished professional faculty member, David Meek Music Director/Conductor, VAM offers voice students the opportunity to participate in an extensive opera training program for young singers.

The Opera Studio provides a six-week Scene Study Workshop in each semester. The purpose being to develop students’ vocal and dramatic interpretative powers through practical experience on a selected operatic repertoire. The program culminates each year with a fully-staged and costumed Opera Production presented in a professional theatre. These productions are subject to audition requirements and will enable successful students to enhance their stagecraft and showcase their talents through genuine performance experience.

Finally, the program will offer a sixteen-week Opera-History course in which students explore operatic history and tradition in the context of social, political and cultural movements of representative time-periods.

The VAM Opera Studio is designed for serious, career-oriented singers as a stepping-stone to professional opera.
